The Penn Political Union Progressive Caucus is dedicated to public policies that fight for economic justice and security in the U.S. and global economies; protecting and preserving civil rights and civil liberties; promoting global peace and security; and advancing environmental protection and energy independence. We believe in strong principles of fairness created by a government for everyone, not just the powerful and the privileged.
Chairwoman Mena Shanab
A Philly native, Mena Shanab is in the class of 2019 studying NELC and political science. On campus, Mena is a columnist for the International Affairs Association’s undergraduate publication, The Consul. She is also involved in Students for Justice in Palestine and Amnesty International. Mena is passionate about gender equality in the Middle East as well as the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. This summer, Mena will be doing research on female genital mutilation in Egypt.
